Fresh Wedding Trends for Fall 2016

It’s officially fall – even though Dallas’ weather hasn’t quite gotten the memo yet – and we’re trading our pastels and lemonade for dark, rich earth tones and pumpkin spice lattes. Fall is simply a romantic season with the leaves changing colors and a crisp breeze in the air; it’s the perfect time of year for a wedding in Texas! While many fall wedding trends hold true from year to year, in 2016 brides and grooms are spicing it up with some cool new ideas:

FALL COLORS

Wedding theme colors mirror nature, with the light, sunny colors of summer weddings turning into the oranges, reds and browns of fall. But that doesn’t mean you have to forego any lighter colors for your fall wedding! This year, we’re seeing a lot of dusty pastels paired with the more typical dark fall tones. A dusty pink perfectly balances darker tones like burgundy, purple and auburn. A dusty pale blue accents the richness of navy, indigo and brown hues. For a glam wedding, add some dimension to your dark color palette with an elegant metallic shade such as brass, gold or rose gold.

With a cooler season comes cool new options for the perfect wedding dress, because sleeves! Sleeves and visually interesting layers played an important role on the runway during fall wedding dress presentations earlier this year. The biggest fall wedding gown trend is texture and 3-D effects. We’re seeing embroidery, large flowers, ruffly layers, tulle, mixed textures and lots of illusion elements. If you like to take a more minimalist approach to your fashion, this is the season to rock silky slip dresses and delicate lace sleeves. And as the 90s trends return to our closets with a vengeance, watch for the return of the spaghetti strap wedding dress!

Fall is the best time of year for over-the-top, freshly-picked floral arrangements and an abundance of leafy greens. Wine-colored dahlias and vibrant berries pair perfectly with artichokes, seeded eucalyptus, succulents, wheat greens and an assortment of foliage. For a rustic wedding, decorate your wedding space with dried greenery, flowers, figs and candle arrangements. Bring on the autumn vibes with painted pumpkin and squash displays that celebrate the season. For a fancier affair, cascading floral bouquets and displays full of dark green foliage and accented by light, creamy flowers make a dramatic, elegant statement.

Get creative with fall-inspired bar and snack stations for your wedding! Surprise your guests with a dessert bar full of home-cooked pies you’d find on the Thanksgiving dinner table or offer a craft beer tasting that focuses on seasonal brews and flavors. With the cooler weather it’s a great time of year for a coffee or hot cocoa station – and don’t forget s’mores! Celebrate the best flavors of fall with signature fall drinks like spiced rum garnished with a cinnamon stick, apple cider margaritas,or spiced red wine sangria.
