What Desi Family Gatherings and Social Events Actually Need From a Venue
A large family function puts pressure on a venue in ways a small dinner never will. You need a room that holds everyone, a food policy that works with your family instead of against it, staff who can reset a space while guests are outside, and enough parking. Here’s how those pieces fit together here.
Choose your ballroom, then decide about the garden
Bel Air is our largest ballroom, seating 250 to 500 guests, with mezzanines on both sides for relatives who prefer to sit and watch the dancing. Melrose seats up to 170 and has a central staircase that opens toward a covered patio and garden. Malibu seats up to 120 under a central chandelier, and its two staircases make entrances easy.
Each ballroom has a garden to match. Bel Air Garden is about 10,000 square feet and holds 250 to 300 for a ceremony, with an arbor and water feature on the upper level, then turf, a waterfall, and a fire pit lounge below. Melrose Garden is about 5,000 square feet, seats up to 160, and has two pergolas strung with lights. Malibu Garden is about 4,000 square feet with a ceremony arch, a water feature, and a ceiling of string lights, at roughly 100 for a ceremony and 100 for a reception. Book a ballroom with its garden, or book either on its own.
Bring your own caterer, and know what we handle
Our vendor policy is open, and outside catering is allowed, which matters when your family already has a caterer they trust. Two things are worth knowing before you plan. Decor is done by our team, so linens, centerpieces, and table styling come from our inventory rather than an outside decorator. And when you bring in your own food, we supply the cutlery and the waitstaff for a charge.
You can also furnish your own alcohol. We provide the bartender and the security that goes with it.
If you’d rather hand the food to us, our in-house kitchen serves buffet style by default, with plated available, and cooks across cuisines with vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary options. There are no food and beverage minimums.
Parking, suites, and a place for family who travel in
There are about 300 free parking spots on site, with valet available on request, which removes a familiar headache on a big day.
The bridal and groom suites are spacious, and our ballroom packages include two-hour access to them before the event begins.
For relatives flying in, we work with hotel partners in Addison and Farmers Branch, roughly three to twelve miles away, and benefits can include discounted rooms, breakfast depending on the hotel, and shuttle service on request. We also offer interest-free payment plans.
Sound, screens and light for mehndi and sangeet nights
Our AV includes a screen and projector, microphones, a sound system and live streaming, so grandparents who cannot make the flight still see the ceremony. Uplighting and ambience lighting come with your room rental, and the color is your call, so a mehndi can glow green and gold while the next night turns soft and warm.
Late-night hours are allowed. If your ceremony and reception share a room, our staff flips the space in between, and setup, teardown, and cleaning during and after the event are part of what we do.
One venue, many traditions
We host Indian and Pakistani wedding ceremonies and celebrations, Desi family gatherings and social events, Nepali weddings and cultural events, Hispanic weddings, parties, and cultural festivals, Nigerian events, ceremonies, and community functions, and American multicultural events, corporate gatherings, and private parties. Our team has worked with American, Nigerian, Middle Eastern, Vietnamese, South Asian, Nepalese, and Hispanic families, so we are not learning your traditions on the day.
